Dar Dowling is a New York based visual artist and writer. She is obsessed with fine lines, quantum energy, and exploring wide-open spaces. Her work has been featured in cities across the U.S and Canada, including Toronto, New York, and Dallas. Her

Dar is also the creative force behind a series of documentaries and scripted works, including Hey Mom, What’s Sex?, Double Take, and By Any Means, all of which have made a strong impact at festivals in the US and Europe and positioned her as a new, talented voice in the Indie film world. Her projects - off-center snapshots of the human condition that are alternately gritty, tender, quirky, and powerful- are unlike most things you’ll see on the big screen or small.

Recently she published 'The Book of Darku', which made its way onto the #1 new release and bestseller list. This book combines her love of visual storytelling with her love of writing. Dar in many ways grew up in a Japanese Dojo, where she developed a fascination for all things Japanese. In this book, she brings together her art, her love of capturing nature, cityscapes, and random moments with her camera, and her love of Haikus, albeit Haikus, that in some cases may not fit the traditional model, and in others may well smash it.
